Lee Ho Fook

Type of restaurant:
Independent

Location:
Melbourne

Year founded:
2013

Lee Ho Fook first opened in 2013 in Collingwood before moving to its current location in the city, in a brick warehouse conversion amongst a street art-strewn alleyway. Awarded two Hats by the Good Food Guide, this modern Chinese restaurant seamlessly blends traditional Chinese culinary techniques with premium Australian ingredients, celebrating local producers while offering a contemporary take on Chinese cuisine.

With the goal of contributing to Melbourne’s dining scene, Chef-Owner Victor Liong reflects on 11 years of success, feeling they’ve done a great job becoming an integral part of it. Today, Lee Ho Fook has an esteemed reputation as one of the best modern Chinese restaurants in the city, with few other restaurants being able to compete with them.

During the economic downturn, trade began to slow, and one of Victor’s key objectives was to address the challenge of declining mid-week business. After transitioning to OpenTable, one of the first noticeable improvements was a surge in reservations and customer flow. As Victor explains “The platform we’re using before just didn’t give you a reference to are you improving? Are we heading towards the direction that we want? And these are all things that OpenTable does provide.”

Utilising a restaurant management system to increase customer engagement and satisfaction

The service at Lee Ho Fook is understated and refreshingly informal, while maintaining impeccable professionalism in every aspect and meticulous attention to detail.

Henriette, the restaurant manager, says that integrating the OpenTable restaurant management software with their point of sale system, has given her access to all of the important customer information, including their experience, diner feedback, areas of improvement, and customer satisfaction.

From the moment Lee Ho Fook moved to OpenTable, Henriette says she’s been more than happy with the service, especially the added layers of support the system offers, as well as by the local team and account manager. According to her, the level of support they’ve received since the move is far beyond anything any other system was able to offer.

“What I really like is how the back-of-house is organised, because it makes it very user-friendly. I was very happy the moment we moved to OpenTable. We never had the same amount of support that we have now.”

As an experienced restaurant manager, Henriette has worked with various management systems and thinks the OpenTable system is the most user-friendly to date.

According to Victor, the OpenTable restaurant management system has all the features he needs as a restaurant operator, including the data and analytics needed to assess the efficiency and customer engagement on one easy-to-use and understand interface.

The system is seamless for the staff, owners, and customers to interact with, book with, and use, which is why Victor decided to move and has benefited from it ever since.
